Shiny Tiger

There’s a certain amount of irony that the 10 foot Les Paul I painted for the Waukesha Guitar Town Project (seen above) was painted in the Marshall Building and then clear coated at Marshall Auto Body… though I couldn’t imagine the size of the stacks you’d have to play this thing through, much less the size of the guitar player.

New Riders of the Apocalypse

First, I want to emphasize, that this, The New Riders of the Apocalypse, acrylic on canvas, 48″X72″, is a work in progress. In an experimental phase right now and just wanted to play around with a few ideas I had sitting in my sketchbook.

The original drawing was a re-imagining of the 4 Horsemen; four figures of the apocalypse turned into a cute group of kids, teenage villains disguised as superheroes, a la Teen Titans or early X-men; a drawing turned into a painting, giving me an excuse to play with paint before I high tail it back to the drawing board.

Thought I’d share while I work through this one.

Above are but a few of the hundreds of prints we’ve worked on together over the years. The originals, as well as the mini “best of” series, are all sold out. But since we’ve received so many request for them – we’re going to make some (including the ones above) available this June.

Back with the Original Lineup!

So over the last few months of dealing with a ton of personal stuff; including a baby and a few funerals, we thought it was about time to get our proverbial shit together… so we’ve once again turned on the “chimp signal” and volia! We’re back in biznez.

We do want to make it clear, we are not running a gallery and are not accepting submissions. So many artists seem to be more interested in being entrepreneurs, than actual artists, that it’s kinda of a pain-in-the-ass working with them, though we wish them all the best. Good luck with all that Etsy fun.

Our next opening will be in June, more details later.

Imagining yourself on the west side of town perusing the artwork pictured above while stuffing your pie hole with delicious treats?  Well, you just may be psychic. This Friday (April 27th, 5-9 pm) and Saturday (April 28th, 10 am -4 pm) you’ll get your chance. We’ll be hanging out at Eat Cake, 4303 W Vliet Street, with owner Debbie Pagel, exhibiting fine art prints and posters, all part of the West Side Art Walk. Wow.

Spring Gallery Night 2012

Our first Gallery Night since closing down our gallery. For the past few months we’ve really enjoyed the ability to paint and work at our own pace without the headaches of running a full time gallery. Not that is wasn’t fun, it wasn’t, but we’re not complaining, we enjoyed working with so many talented people over the years, but we’re glad it’s behind us.

This Friday night (April 20, 5-9 pm) we’ll be exhibiting a new piece from Gene Evans; The Tao of the Dodo (Pop Art), described as “a quick one on the state of current pop art. After years of looking at submissions of yet another oh so original soup can, or another variation of a Roy Lichtenstein painting, it was as if today’s artists we’re throwing their hands in the air and surrendering to artist of the 60′s, or worse, artist adding Cap’t Crunch or Kool Aid to the mediocre work. Painful use of iconism – read a book!!!”

We’ll also be presenting a giclée series of Bridget Griffith Evans’s Mysteries of the Universe Reveal Themselves or what we commonly refer to as the “bird series” as well as some other work.

Stop in a say “hi!”
